Update 18th January
Design Standards for New Apartments- Extension of Deadline for Receipt of Submissions.
Given the level of interest in the Design Standards for New Apartments - Guidelines for Planning Authorities - Draft Update, the Department has agreed to extend the period for receipt of submissions by one week to 1pm Thursday, 25 January.
The Department also confirms that an expression of interest to attend the Workshop, due to take place on Friday, 26 January, can be made at any time up until the final date for submissions of 1pm on 25 January. It is not necessary to make a submission in order to attend the Workshop. However, an expression of interest will not guarantee attendance.
Minister Eoghan Murphy T.D., on Monday 18th December, 2017 published updated draft guidelines for planning authorities on apartment development, to ensure that the right stock of homes is being built, in the right locations, and at a cost that is more economically attractive to investors and developers.
To enable focused input into the technical aspects of the Guidelines, the Department invites submissions on the draft guidelines over the period to Thursday 18th January 2018 and a half-day workshop is also presently envisaged in late January to facilitate their finalisation. Those interested in attending the workshop are requested to indicate as such in their submission. Please note that expression of interest will not guarantee attendance as places are limited.
The Department accepts that this timeframe for public consultation is relatively short. However, this is due to the need to conclude the update of the guidelines in as concise a timeframe as possible, inclusive of the views of interested stakeholders and to maximise policy clarity for those engaged in preparing and advancing apartment development proposals at this time of very significant housing need.
Submissions can be emailed to email@example.com or by post to Forward Planning Section, Room 1.71, Custom House, Dublin, D01 W6X0. In the interests of transparency, all written submissions received will be made publicly available on the Department’s website. Following consideration of submissions the Guidelines may be amended.
