Public Consultation - Planning Exemptions for Micro-Renewable Technologies
The Department carried out a review in 2006 in relation to the planning implications of micro-renewable technologies. This process culminated in the publication of the Planning and Development Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 83 of 2007) (pdf, 85kb) which give effect to new exempted development provisions in respect of micro-renewable technologies. These Regulations came into effect from 28 February, 2007.
The Regulations were finalised on foot of submissions received from interested parties on draft proposals set out in the consultation paper that was published by the Department in November 2006. A total of 65 submissions were received, almost all of which indicated support for the introduction of planning exemptions for micro-renewables as a means of encouraging uptake. A copy of the consultation paper and a summary paper on the public consultation process are available below.
