Public Consultation - Marine Strategy Framework Directive – Programme of Measures Phase (Article 13)

In accordance with Article 19 of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), the Department engaged in a public consultation process on the 27th November 2015. Submissions were sought on Ireland’s draft Programme of Measures drawn up under article 13 of the Directive.

The consultation process ran for a period of 10 weeks ending on the 5th February 2016 and the Department has produced a formal response document to the submissions received.  The Consultation process is now complete and a final Programme of Measures has been developed reflecting the outcome of the consultation process.

Public Meetings

The Department organised a number of open regional events in relation to the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, Programme of Measures, public consultation process. The purpose of these sessions was to provide information to interested parties and answer any questions that people may have.

The relevant dates and locations were as follows:

  • Clayton Hotel, Silver Springs, Tivoli, Cork, Friday 8 January 2016 - 10am to 2
  • Connacht Hotel, Renmore, Galway, Tuesday 12 January 2016 -  10am to 2
  • Jury’s Inn Custom House Quay Dublin 1, Thursday 14 January 2016 - 10am to 2

On foot of a number of requests, DECLG agreed to extend the deadline for receipt of submissions in relation to the MSFD draft Programme of Measures from close of business on 29 January 2016 to close of business on the 5 February 2016.
